Project Summary
It started in 2013 as a Volunteer group of Concerned Citizens. It partnered with the City and TRCA to
host bike events and encouraged Children to Bike to School.
Their successes include:
- Creation of an Active Transportation Department at the City of Brampton, an Active
Transportation Advisory Committee and the City’s first Active Transportation Master
Plan, - Creation of a Community Cycling Program that offers bicycle repair training, support,
and community expertise, in both Brampton and Caledon, - Creation of Bike the Creek annual, free, Peel-wide cycling event which attracts more
than 1,000 participants each year, - Completion of Brampton’s first east/west protected bike lane along Vodden, Howden,
and Hanover Streets along with maps for transport to essential services by bike.
